Tree Climbing Lions, Chimpanzee and Gorilla trekking

You will trek the chimpanzees and the gorillas on this 4 days Uganda Safari and also have a chance to spot some game as you drive through Queen Elizabeth Park. Spotting the tree climbing lions will be exciting as it is one of Uganda’s unique attractions in the ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth Park.

You head out from Entebbe/Kampala after a briefing from our safari guide. The road trip takes you through the Uganda equator where you will have a stop to observe and take photos of this unique imaginary line attraction. Another lunch break will be had in Mbarara city, proceed to Bwindi reaching in the evening to check in at Bakiga lodge, Enganzi, or Buhoma lodge or Buhoma community rest camp.

Dinner and overnight at your lodge

Have breakfast and head to the briefing point where you will receive some briefing on the dos and don'ts while trekking the gorillas. Thereafter, you will be led by a ranger guide and security persons to the Gorilla tracking zones for your adventure. This Rain forest is incredible! With more than 160 different tree species and approximately 100 different species of ferns, this exceptional biodiversity make Bwindi forest a spectacular area worth to be visited. You might walk for 1 hour or more and this will depend on the movements of these gentle giants. After locating them, you will be allowed a maximum of 1 hour in their presence for photography and observation. This thrill of spending time observing these gentle giants is unforgettable. After the gorilla experience, transfer to Queen Elizabeth southern sector where the tree climbing lions dwell.

Today you will just check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the evening for leisure. [Enjojo lodge, ishasha wilderness, Topi lodge]

After a relaxed breakfast, you will embark on a morning game drive through the ishasha plains to look out for the tree climbing lions; other animals like the topi, leopard, elephants, and buffaloes will be spotted on their trails as you drive. Proceed to the northern sector of the park to catch up with the afternoon boat cruise. Another opportunity to spot baboon and other monkeys will be enjoyed as you head out North. You will have lunch from your lodge and there after jump on to the boat for an exciting cruise on the kazinga channel, you will encounter big numbers of hippos, big crocodiles busking along the shores, buffaloes, elephants plus a prolific bird life which will indeed fascinate you.

Dinner at Bush lodge, Tembo safari lodge, buffalo safari lodge

Have your early morning breakfast at your lodge and then get transferred to kyambura gorge or Kalinzu forest for the chimpanzee trekking adventure. This activity is entirely guided by an armed ranger guide who is experienced and he will walk you through the jungle in search for the chimpanzees. Hearing the vocalization of these chimps will aid the ranger guide to locate them, and once they are spotted, you will have 1 full hour to observe them as they display their traits before you. After the trekking you will then hit the road for Kampala.

A lunch break will be made on your way back reaching late evening and get dropped off at your pre booked lodge or at the airport to catch up with your late night flight.

This intimate size ensures that your group will not crowd your experience. You can expect up to 15 travelers on a trip but the average is 10.

Travelers arrive from all over the world to begin our tours and it is not possible to include international airfare in our prices. We would be happy to help you arrange flights. Just ask for an air quote when making your booking.

To travel independently you must be at least 18 years of age. There are no upper age limits for most of our tours. Also, travellers with pre-existing medical conditions are required to complete a medical questionnaire. Our Family Adventures are open to families with children aged between 5 and 17 years of age. Our standard (non-family) adventures are open to children aged 12 years or older when accompanied by a parent (max. two children per adult). The two-children-per-adult restriction does not apply to our Family adventures.
