This safari is will take you to some of Uganda’s finest geographical and natural beauties, to the parks with greatest concentration of primates (including half of the world’s mountain gorillas.) You will also have a great opportunity to watch the big 5 animals in their natural habitats.

You will be picked by our big lion Safari guide from the Airport and transfer to your booked accommodation.

Head to Murchison Falls National Park, you will have your first stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and undertake a nature walk to view the white rhinos. Your next stop will be made in Masindi town for lunch before entering the park.

Enjoy your game drive in the savannah of the park, in search for the big 4 and other game. The big four include the Lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant. You will have lunch at the lodge and then embark on an afternoon boat cruise to the summit of the falls. On this afternoon boat cruise, expect to see a lot of bird species which include the pied kingfisher, the Goliath heron, malachite, fish eagles, jacanas, bee eaters and the rarely spotted African fin foot. A hike to the top of the falls will be another exciting and adventurous activity waiting. (Just don’t miss it).

You will be picked from the top of the falls and then transferred to Pakuba lodge, Para lodge or Murchison River lodge for dinner and overnight.

After your morning breakfast you will get transferred to fort portal city. Reach in fort portal city for lunch, after lunch; you will embark on an excursion to the caves (amabere ga nyina mwiru). This is an interesting cultural tour takes you through a nature walk in the cave. The story here relates to a very beautiful princess, who fell in love with a subordinate of the king, and after the king learning about this, the princess’ breast was cut off by her father and this gesture evident in the caves.

You will then transfer to Fort motel/ Ducthess or Rwenzori view guest house in Fort portal. Dinner and over night

After breakfast you will undertake a crater drive. You will visit various crater lakes including Lake Nkuruba, reach up to the top of the world for spectacular viewing of this area. A cluster of crater lakes was formed due to volcanicity, many years ago. If you are lucky, you will spot the red colobus monkeys at Lake Nkuruba. Check in and have lunch at chimpanzee forest lodge/Isunga lodge or Kibale forest camp. After lunch, you will enjoy a nature walk in Bigodi swamp. This swamp is an eco-tourist site specifically for bird watching. Over 200 various bird species have been recorded in this fascinating area. You will also spot other various primates and mammals on this walk.

Relax at your lodge, dinner and overnight.

After your morning breakfast, head for chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park. The highlight of this day is the chimpanzees in the wild. There are other primates that live in this forest, like the grey-cheeked mangabey, olive baboons, L’Hoest monkey and red colobus alongside the black and white colobus; these can be spotted on today’s walk. After the trek head back to the lodge for lunch and relax. Later you will undertake a community walk and get close to the local communities; you will also see coffee, see how local people live and also learn how they distill the local brewery.

Evening relaxing, dinner and overnight

After breakfast, you will hit the road to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will drive through beautiful villages, with preferred stops to take photos in markets, plantations and the community. This will be a short drive (2hrs), seeing the views of Lake George. The park lies at the foothills of the legendary “Mountains of the Moon.” Check in and have lunch at Buffalo Safari lodge, Bush lodge or Tembo safari lodge. After relaxing, undertake an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel (2hrs) that joins lake George-lake Edward. You will have a chance to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, giant Forest hogs, among others. For the birders, birds like, Papyrus Gonolek, pink-backed pelicans, malachite kingfishers, yellow crown, African fish eagles, water thick-knee, and yellow-billed stork among others can be spotted.

Don’t forget your camera. Return to your lodge.

Rise up early for a breakfast and thereafter head for a game drive in the Kasenyi plains, your Safari guide will help you to spot Lions, leopards, bushbuck, Uganda Kob, topi, Defassa waterbuck, Cape buffaloes, elephants, snakes to mention but a few. This can take you 3-4 hrs. Head back to the lodge for lunch. You will then visit the Lake Katwe town with its gorgeous exhibit of crater lakes. Check out salt mining at Lake Katwe crater. You will have a chance to see the flamingos at this lake depending on the time of year since they are migrant species.

Return back to the lodge and rest.

After breakfast you will set off for ishasha southern sector of Queen Elizabeth as you transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Ishasha is an area famously known for the tree climbing lions; you will undertake a game drive in this area to look out for the lions resting in the fig trees. Spotting these lions in trees is fascinating. Continue to Bwindi national park a worldwide recognized habitat for the mountain gorillas.

Sleep at enganzi, bakiga lodge or ichumbi lodge, Buhoma lodge, among others.

Boost your morning with breakfast before heading out to the jungle for gorilla trekking by 0800hrs. You will trek through the huge Bwindi forest as you search for the mountain gorillas with help of an experienced ranger guide, this trek can take 1 hour, 2 hours or half-day depending on movements of the gorillas. A packed lunch is recommended. After this spectacular gorilla experience, return back to the lodge for a bit of resting. You will go for a brief visits to the Batwa (pygmies who lived in the forest before it was conserved as a national Park).

Then retire back to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Exit Bwindi Gorilla Park and head to Lake Bunyonyi. You will enjoy a canoe ride or a boat cruise to explore the different islands of Lake Bunyonyi. Cruise to Punishment Island where Bakiga girls who became pregnant before marriage would be taken and left to die in isolation. Other islands of Lake Bunyonyi include Akampene, Bushara, and Bucuraniko among others.

In the afternoon, interact with the community etc. Spend your evening at leisure

After breakfast, transfer to Lake Mburo NP and enjoy afternoon or evening game drive in search for Zebras, topis, errands, buffaloes, leopards, warthogs, waterbucks, giraffes, and ‘impalas’ among others. Kampala the capital of Uganda was named after these beautiful antelopes.

Dinner and overnight at your lodge

After breakfast you will have a guided nature walk in the park with an (armed ranger). This walk will get you close to Nature and have a chance to view different animal and bird species up close. Later after lunch go for a boat trip which is good for sightings of hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, bushbuck, and the resident otters which are rarely spotted in Uganda. Also, the striking birds like fish eagles, kingfishers, egrets, Ross’ Turacco, the rare shoe bill stock and herons plus the elusive African fin foot can be spotted.

Have your breakfast and you will then be transferred back to Entebbe. A stopover will be made at the equator line for lunch and photography, then transfer to a pre booked guest house so that you rest and refresh a bit. You will then be transferred to the Entebbe international airport for your late night or early morning flight.

This intimate size ensures that your group will not crowd your experience. You can expect up to 15 travelers on a trip but the average is 10.

Travelers arrive from all over the world to begin our tours and it is not possible to include international airfare in our prices. We would be happy to help you arrange flights. Just ask for an air quote when making your booking.

To travel independently you must be at least 18 years of age. There are no upper age limits for most of our tours. Also, travellers with pre-existing medical conditions are required to complete a medical questionnaire. Our Family Adventures are open to families with children aged between 5 and 17 years of age. Our standard (non-family) adventures are open to children aged 12 years or older when accompanied by a parent (max. two children per adult). The two-children-per-adult restriction does not apply to our Family adventures.
