13 Days Mountain Rwenzori National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi National Park, Lake Mburo National Park

This trip is a 13 days/ 12nights Safari that takes you to the legendary mountains of the moon, Bwindi gorillas, Queen Elizabeth Park and Lake Mburo Park. The Ruwenzori’s and Bwindi impenetrable are UNESCO sites with spectacular scenery which range from glaciers, waterfalls, lakes, dense forests making it Africa’s alpine area. A variety of many habitats of endangered species (like gorillas in Bwindi) and rich in unique flora like the giant heather (in Rwenzori) among others.

Today you will meet our safari guide who will brief you on this safari. Hit the road to access kasese town where you will spend your first night. A lunch stop will be made in fort portal town before reaching kasese in the evening, check in at sandton hotel or ruboni community camp.

Dinner and overnight

After your breakfast, you will transfer to Nyakalengija where you will get briefed, hire equipment and arrange for the guides, porters and your chef. Start your hiking at the park gate Nyabitaba (2650m). The first trail is relaxing and simple; it will take you through the homes and villages of the local people in this area. You will climb and cross river mahoma then ascend steeply to Nyabitaba camp.

Dinner and overnight at Nyabitaba camp

Have your morning breakfast to energize and then follow the descend trail that takes you down from Nyabitaba to the forest, crossing Kurt Shafer bridge. The walk will become tougher as you approach the slippery moss covered rocks. You will finally reach Johnmaate to relax and spend a night. There is beautiful scenery and a high chance to catch a glimpse of mount Stanley and margherita glaciers.

You will enjoy an early breakfast and then embark on your trail. From Johnmaate you will descend down and cross river Bujuku and enter the lower bigo bog, the home of the giant lobelias. The bog will be crossed but with an encounter of some freezing parts. Continue to the upper bigo bog as you follow the Bujuku River that some time runs underground from Lake Bujuku. You can view both mountain baker and Stanley at that point.

Reach Elena camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Today is going to require a lot of energy. Start early with an aim of reaching Margherita peak and continue to the glaciers of Stanley. You will view 3 glaciers, slippery rocks and ice exposed areas. This climb will require fit and technical climbers; you will climb up to the peak margherita the highest peak of Rwenzori at 5109 m above sea level. This will be the climax of this activity. After your photography, you will prepare to return back through the Irene lakes and continue down to Johnmaate camp at 3505m

After an early breakfast, the descend will take you to Nyabitaba and you will reach in time for lunch. You will then continue down to Nyakalengija where you will meet you safari guide to transfer you to Kasese town for dinner and overnight at sandton hotel kasese

Have a relaxed breakfast and hit the road to Queen Elizabeth park, upon arrival in the park, you will visit the queens hut where the late Queen Elizabeth stood to view this area on her visit in 1950s. Proceed to check in and have lunch at Bush lodge, Tembo safari lodge or buffalo safari lodge. There after jump on to the boat for an exciting cruise on the kazinga channel, on your boat cruise, you will encounter big numbers of hippos, big crocodiles busking along the shores, elephants, buffaloes plus a prolific bird life which will indeed fascinate you. Thereafter, you will undertake a short evening game drive to look out for the big four which include the lion, leopard, elephant and the buffalo.

Enjoy the sun set in the savannah before heading back dinner and overnight at Bush lodge, Tembo safari lodge, buffalo safari lodge

Have your early morning breakfast and then get transferred to Kalinzu forest or kyambura gorge for your chimpanzee trekking adventure. This activity is entirely guided by a ranger guide who is experienced and he will walk you through the jungle in search for the chimpanzees. Hearing the vocalization of these chimps will aid you to locate them, and once they are spotted, you will have 1 full hour of observing them as they display their traits before you. After your chimpanzee trekking, you will hit the road with a lunch box to Ishasha (southern sector of Queen Elizabeth Park) for the tree climbing lions. You will embark on an afternoon game drive through the ishasha plains to look out for the tree climbing lions; other animals like the topi, leopard, elephants, and buffaloes can be spotted on their trails as you drive.

Dinner and overnight at Enjojo safari lodge or jungle lodge.

After breakfast you will enjoy another game drive before proceeding to Bwindi Gorilla Park, reaching in the evening to check in at Bwindi view lodge, Bakiga lodge, Enganzi, Buhoma lodge or Buhoma community rest camp.

Have breakfast and head to the briefing point where you will receive some briefing on the dos and don'ts while trekking the gorillas. Thereafter, you will enter the Gorilla tracking zones for your adventure. The beauty of this Rain forest is spectacular! (A packed lunch box is recommended). The area offers a forested landscape and it is incredibly dense but with animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken to find the gentle giants depends on their movements. After locating the gorillas, you will be allowed a maximum of 1 hour of photography and observation. This thrill of spending time observing these gentle giants is unforgettable.

Continue to Lake Bunyonyi for a relaxing evening at your lodge.

After a relaxed breakfast, enjoy Bird watching and Lake Bunyonyi tour. The boat cruise will take you to explore the different islands of Lake Bunyonyi as you spot some resident and migratory bird species. You will cruise to the different islands which include Punishment Island where Bakiga girls who became pregnant before marriage were taken and left to die. Other islands of Lake Bunyonyi include upside island, Akampene, Bushara, and Bucuraniko among others. Spend the afternoon at leisure.

Dinner at bunyonyi overland camp or Lake Bunyonyi safaris resort or rock resort

After your morning breakfast, transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Check in, have lunch at your lodge and relax. An evening game drive will be undertaken with expectations of spotting impalas, the gigantic elands, zebras, topis, bushbucks, kobs, cape buffaloes, giraffes, leopards, hyenas, among others.

Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight. Lodges to stay are Rwakobo rock, kigambira safari lodge, eagle’s nest or hyena hill.

After your breakfast, head out to the savannah with an armed ranger guide to enjoy a guided nature walk. This activity offers you a chance to get close to the nature. Check out at your lodge and drive back to Kampala or Entebbe airport so that you catch up with your late evening flight. A stopover will be made at kayabwe equator line for lunch and photography. Arrive in Kampala late in the evening and you will be dropped off at a pre booked lodge in Entebbe or Kampala.

We keep our group sizes low so that you have the freedom to move around and get involved with your surroundings, as well as more personal attention from our local guides. This intimate size ensures that your group will not crowd your experience. You can expect up to 15 travelers on a trip but the average is 10.

Travelers arrive from all over the world to begin our tours and it is not possible to include international airfare in our prices. We would be happy to help you arrange flights. Just ask for an air quote when making your booking.

To travel independently you must be at least 18 years of age. There are no upper age limits for most of our tours. Also, travellers with pre-existing medical conditions are required to complete a medical questionnaire. Our Family Adventures are open to families with children aged between 5 and 17 years of age. Our standard (non-family) adventures are open to children aged 12 years or older when accompanied by a parent (max. two children per adult). The two-children-per-adult restriction does not apply to our Family adventures.
